On April 4, Caleb and Micheala presented our project to a group of highschoolers from Africa. Emma videoed part of the presentation because none of the video team were able to come. Caleb and Micheala demonstrated how to build the filter and answered questions. The teenagers came to America for three weeks, and learned leadership and other skills to take back to their countries.
The room was filled with excitement and the students eagerly discuessed the design and the possibilites. The students confirmed the materials we had chosen were available at home. A few had a version of the bio filter they used daily.
We hope they will build bio-sand filters and spread our design around in Africa.
